Welcome to the West
Georgia Tactical Shooter's website. We hope that this website
will be an informative tool to help our readers better understand
what our club represents and how you can join us for our monthly
IDPA matches. Please see the Calendar for the NEW WINTER HOURS.
We will be starting the events at 1:00 pm for February and
March instead of 9:00 am. Also this January shoot we have
a low light shoot that will begin at 5:00 pm. Please marke your
calendars.
We meet at the
Little
River Gun Club. Please visit the "Range
Facility" page for directions and range information.
If you are not familiar
with the International Defensive pistol Association (IDPA)
we have several pages on this site to help you get a better understanding
for action shooting matches. We welcome beginner shooters with
some pistol skills and highly recommend that you become familiar
with the expectations you will be required to perform as a shooter,
safety rules and IDPA rules.
If you are a first-time
IDPA shooter (not a member of IDPA) you may shoot your first match
for free, thereafter you will be required to be an IDPA member
and present your membership card and member number at each shoot.
Each person who enters
the WGTS matches will be required to undergo a one-time short
safety class at no cost. This class will help you understand the
rules of safety and get familiar with the Range Safety Officers
and their expectations. Of course, we will continue to open each
match with our regular safety briefings.
Our goal is to have
fun, practice action-shooting skills and join one another as a
friendly group of individuals with a common interest.
We welcome spectators.
However, we don't recommend young children attending these matches.
If you do bring a young child/infant they must be with an adult
spectator at all times (this adult will not be allowed to compete
and must stay with the child). No child will not be permitted
to sit as a spectator in the pistol pit (under the covered sitting
area) and will be required to only stay back where the vehicles
park. We remind you that all children, spectators and shooters
must wear hearing and eye protection at all times.
We want everyone
to enjoy his or her day and have fun but most of all, be safe.
Please consider other shooters and please try to act in a courteous,
sportsmanship manner. We welcome new ideas and scenarios. If anyone
has any questions, please feel free to contact us. Everyone is
welcome to visit our discussion forums.
Thank you,
West Georgia Tactical Shooters
